Often, Rain will drop atop and within the valleys of the West Maui Mountains, dissipating as it moves away from them. Because of this, Rainbows are frequent, but fleeting.
When shooting at the beach, high tides can make finding a dramatic foreground difficult. Not so for Kristin, who spotted this little shore crab going about his routine. As he was consumed with keeping the sand from collapsing in his hole, Kristin set up and composed him as the foreground for this sunset.
These three rocks were perfectly placed by nature to provide a lead in to the beauty of another spectacular Maui sunset, with Molokai visible on the horizon.
